This collection includes letters from brothers Peter and Charles Pressey of Carlisle, Indiana, to Daniel Pressey of Rockingham, New Hampshire, and later, West Newbury, Massachusetts, ranging from 1812 to 1826, regarding family life and finance. The collection also includes a probate record for Daniel Pressey, dated June 8, 1832, naming Anna Pressey as executrix.

Biographical Note

Peter Pressey was born on October 26, 1790 to Petter and Betty (Moulton) Pressey in Sandown, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. He and his brother Charles Pressey moved to Carlisle, Sullivan County, Indiana during the 1810s and 1820s.

Their brother Daniel Pressey was born October 6, 1786 in Sandown, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. He married Ann Hosum and they had a daughter named Betsey Ann Pressey. They later moved to West Newbury, Massachusetts where he died on August 26, 1831.
