This collection includes the letters of William C. Olds to his father, Frank A. Olds, and aunt during the U.S. Civil War, ranging from 1862 to 1865. Also included are letters to Frank A. Olds from Capt. D. Morris of the 63rd Indiana Regiment.

Biographical Note

William C. Olds was born in Covington, Indiana on April 9, 1845. Olds served as corporal and sergeant in the 63rd Indiana Regiment during the Civil War. He married Helen Stewart and they had three children. After the war, he worked as a printer for the Chicago Herald. William died on December 7, 1893 and is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington, Indiana.
