This collection includes autographed, signed letters; typed documents with autographed corrections; newspaper articles; and photostats of newspaper articles from William G. Sullivan in Indianapolis, Indiana; photographs and photostats of letters from Joseph Arthur ranging from 1886 to 1958, regarding the English Opera House, the English family, Annie Fox, John Flaxman, Joseph Arthur, John Wilkes Booth, and other theatrical and artistic persons and plays.

Biographical Note

William George Sullivan was born in June of 1884 to George R. and Annie R. Sullivan in Indianapolis, Indiana. He had one brother, Russell. Sullivan was graduated from Yale University in 1907. He wrote a number of papers about historical Hoosier artists, authors and institutions as well as reading manuscipts for Bobb-Merrill Company. Sullivan served as the secretary-treasurer of the Sullivan Geiger Company, a family-founded firm and was the vice president of American States Insurance Company at the time of his death, September 18, 1959. Sullivan is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
