Biographical Note
Albert Morlan was born in 1850 in Pennsylvania to Richard and Caroline Morlan. Morlan moved with his family from Pennsylvania to Ohio, where he married Martha in 1873. Between 1880 and 1900, Morlan and his wife moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where Morlan worked as an artist. He traveled frequently to Honduras, Belize, and other Central American countries and wrote and illustrated A Hoosier in Honduras about his travel experiences. Morlan had five children, including daughter Dorothy, who studied art under the “Hoosier Group” of artists. He died in 1926 and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.
