Historical Note

The America's Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008 authorized "a program for circulating quarter dollar coins that are emblematic of a national park or other national site in each State, District of Columbia, and each territory of the United States". In 2010, the United States Mint began issuing quarters featuring national parks and other national sites as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. On November 13, 2017, the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park coin was released and features Clark leading his men through flooded plains on the approach to Fort Sackville during the Revolutionary War.

The coin's design was created by Frank Morris, an award-winning artist, designer and illustrator.
