This collection contains correspondence and other documents sent by Indianapolis publisher James E. Perry to Indiana politicians requesting biographical sketches and photographs for inclusion in his book Who's Who and What's What in Indiana Politics that was published in 1944. The collection includes two undated letters with Mr. Perry's signature; an order form; a biographical information form,; an authorization form; a list of proposed contents for the book; a forward written by Governor Henry F. Schricker dated October 1, 1943; and an pre-printed envelope addressed to the publisher.

Biographical Note
James E. Perry was born December 3, 1886 at Stewartsville, Indiana to Thomas and Bertha Perry. He married Mabel L. Burns on December 22, 1909 and they had four children. He worked as a salesman in Louisville, Kentucky before moving with his family to Indianapolis in 1929. He continued in sales and in 1943 he was listed as employed in advertising specialties in the Indianapolis City Directory. In 1944 he published the book Who's Who and What's What in Indiana Politics. He passed away at the age of 70 on June 22, 1957.
