Scope and Contents
This collection contains copies of documents used by Charles Bruce Millholland to write Limestone Town, an unpublished book he worked on while employed by the Indiana Federal Writers' Project in 1939. The documents range from 1922 to 1937 and contain quarry and mill worker wage scales; United States limestone producing areas data; and union membership, home owners' association, and economic assistance data for Lawrence and Monroe Counties. The collection also includes copies of "Origins of Oolithic Limestone", a chapter written by Millholland for the Limestone Town book, and his bibliography.

Biographical Note
Charles Bruce Millholland was born on February 1, 1903 in Chicago, Illinois to William and Anna Millholland. His family later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. Millholland attended Indiana University and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and became an author and playwright. His most notable work was his play, Napoleon of Broadway, which was made into the movie, Twentieth Century, and later the musical, On the Twentieth Century. He also worked with the Indiana Federal Writers' Project in the late 1930s. Millholland died in New York City on May 18, 1991.
