This collection contains Samuel N. Miller's account book, receipts, and correspondence from Miller relatives in Wayne County, Ohio ranging from 1831 to 1859. The collection also includes a mortgage signed by Miller on June 2, 1851 and an August 10, 1852 article of agreement to teach school in Green County, Indiana.

Biographical Note
Samuel N. Miller was born in February, 1810 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania to John and Anna Neidigh Miller. He married Hannah Phillips in 1829 and they had eight children. The Millers moved to Wayne County, Ohio in the 1830s and later located to Greene County, Indiana in the early 1850s. Samuel was a farmer and ordained minister. He died on May 22, 1873.
