This collection contains photocopies of a 1968 ten page typewritten biography of James Miller of Boone County, Indiana. The biography describes Miller's experiences serving in the Philippines from 1899 to 1901with Company B, 34th Regiment Volunteer Infantry during the Philippine-American War. This military conflict occured following the Spanish-American War of 1898 and its resulting Treaty of Paris that transferred Philippine control from Spain to the United States.

Biographical Note

James Miller was born on April 1, 1881 in Franklin County, Indiana to John and Sarah Ellen Miller. He moved with his family to Boone County in 1885. He joined Company B, 34th Regiment Volunteer Infantry and served during the the Philippine-American War (also known as the Philippine Insurrection) from 1899 to 1901. He married Carrie Kersey on December 23, 1903. He was a farmer and minister and passed away on May 22, 1969.
