Biographical Note
The Morris family was early settlers in Vermillion and Parke County. Daniel M. Morris was a probate judge in Parke County in 1829, and earlier in his life was a township teacher. In 1842, James M. Morris was an Associate Judge. Jeremiah Morris was a State Representative from 1890-92, his wedding to his wife Mary was the first in Penn Township. In 1906 M. Morris purchased a store from William Lewis in Reserve Township and became the first postmaster.
