Biographical Note

William Macy was born in North Carolina and lived in a community of the Religious Society of Friends until he was 15 years old and his family moved to Tennessee. While living in Virginia he was drafted into the Civil War for Jackson's Army and refused to fight for it's against his religion, which cost him a large fine the loss of most of his belongings. Over time Macy lived in various states, but settled down in Indiana where his youngest daughter married.
