Biographical Note

George H. Martling was in the American Civil War during 1863-1864 according to his war diary, which gives insight to the daily life of a soldier of the time. The Civil War (1861-1865) is considered America's bloodiest clash resulting in the death of more than 620,000, with millions more injured, as the Union and Confederate States warred against each other.
