Scope and Contents

The collection includes Paul Seehausen’s correspondence regarding his work on Land of the Great Lakes and other textbook projects (1950-1964). Also included are correspondence, newsletters, programs, and other papers relating to adult education programs (1947-1964); annual reports on adult education programs submitted to Indiana University (1945-1949); notes, reports, speeches, and other papers on education, civics, state and national history, the teaching of social studies, and Valparaiso University; and personal correspondence.

Biographical Note

Paul Seehausen was an Indianapolis social studies teacher in the 1930s; a consultant for social studies with the Indiana Department of Education (circa 1944-1950); a coordinator of adult education for Indiana University (circa 1944-1950); the director of adult education and the summer school at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana (1950-1961). He resided in Nashville, Brown County, Indiana from 1961 to 1965. He wrote a book titled, Land of the Great Lakes (1958), and other articles and textbooks.
