This collection contains an April 17, 1946 handwritten letter sent to a Mrs. Anderson at the Indiana State Library by Leone Lowden. In the letter, Lowden thanks Anderson for the "kind words" regarding her novel Proving Ground and expresses appreciation for the librarian's help in getting her novel to other libraries.

Biographical Note
Leone Hines Kenton Lowden was born on October 13, 1889 in Portland, Oregon to Fletcher and Alice Hines. She was brought to Indiana when she was eleven months old and was put in an orphanage. Shortly there after she was adopted by Thomas and Nannie Kenton. She grew up in Shelbyville, Indiana and received an A.B. and an A.M. from the University of Chicago. She married Samuel M. Lowden on February 9, 1923. Mrs. Lowden was a school teacher and the author of the Civil War novel Proving Ground. She died at the age of 88 on September 30, 1978.
