Biographical Note
Professor Harvey J. Locke was born July 23, 1900 in Hennepin County, Minnesota to Alfred and Rosa Locke. He was a graduate of the University of Chicago and began teaching at Indiana University in 1936. In 1945 he resigned as assistant professor of sociology to take a new position as associate professor at the University of Southern California. He wrote several books and articles and specialized in marriage and family life. He passed away at the age of 100 on November 2, 2000.
