Biographical Note
Patterson Fletcher Luark (Laurk) was born on December 16, 1814 in Sullivan County, Tennessee to John and Catherine Luark. He moved with his family to Fayette County, Indiana in 1822. He married Matilda Ann Witham (?-1840) on March 9, 1837 and moved to Bond County, Illinois in the summer of 1840. After the death of his wife and young daughter, he married Mary L. Hodge (1821-1891) on December 19, 1841. In 1853, he and his brother, Michael, and their families moved to the Pacific Northwest. He died on April 17, 1901 in Lake County, California.
