Scope and Contents
This collection includes a December 12, 1867 marriage certificate for Nimrod E. Lake and Nancy Heath for their marriage that took place in Edwardsburgh, Cass County, Michigan. The certificate is signed by the Justice of the Peace, Dethic Hewitt, and notes that John C. Carmichael and Louisa Hewitt were present as witnesses. The collection also includes a newspaper clipping with Nimrod Lake's obituary and the "Administrator's Sale" notice for his estate (circa February, 1879).

Biographical Note
Nimrod E. Lake was born March 29, 1846 in Elkhart County, Indiana to Richard and Nancy Lake. He married Nancy Heath (1848-1885) on December 12, 1867 at Edwardsburgh, Michigan and they had three children: William, Jane "Jennie", and Richard. He was a farmer and lifelong resident of Elkhart County and died at the age of 32 on January 30, 1879.
