This collection includes an inventory of the personal estate of William Perkins of Lawrence County, Indiana (January 31, 1853); an indenture from James Hall of Indianapolis to John F. Vert of Marion County, Indiana regarding a lease of a sawmill in Lawrence Township in Marion County (June 27, 1853); a discharge paper for William H. Vert after completing his one year service with Company B, 150th Illinois Infantry Regiment (January 16, 1866); and a letter written by Lurania Goodman from Grayson (Marshall Township), Indiana to her niece, Mrs. Jenny Kinney that relates family news (June 17, 1895).

Biographical Note
William Perkins (1798-1852) was a farmer in Lawrence County, Indiana. His daughter, Mary Polly (1819-1903) married John F. Vert on January 6, 1839. Their son, William H. (1843-1937), served from January 25, 1865 to January 16, 1866 in Company B, 150th Regiment of the Illinois Infantry. William's sister, Julia, had a son named Charles W. Kinney and his wife's name was Jenny Kinney. Lurania Goodman (1823-1896?) was also a daughter of William Perkins and was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County.
