Biographical Note
Christian Krahmer was born about 1819 in Prussia. A Baker by trade, he served in Company K, 36th Regiment Mississippi Infantry during the U.S. Civil War. After being taken prisoner by Union forces at Vicksburg on July 4, 1863, he enlisted in Company K, 7th Indiana Cavalry Volunteers on August 21, 1863 and served in the Union Army until his discharge on May 31, 1865.
