Biographical Note

Horace Edgar (H. E.) Kinney was born on September 9, 1858 at Stilesville, Indiana to Lazarus and Maria Kinney. He married Laura M. Robards (1858-1935) on April 13, 1882 and they had two daughters, Hazel (1884-1918) and Zuleme (1890-1976). A prominant Indianapolis business man, Kinney started out working as a telegraph operator and worked his way up to manager of the Postal Telegraph and Cable Company. In 1885, Kinney began working in the grain and commission business, incorporating a business under his name in 1910. He was elected to the Indianapolis Board of Trade and serving a term as president. Kinney died on April 20, 1942 at the age of 83.
