Biographical Note

Dulcina [Dulcenia] [Duleina] Minerva Mason Jordan was born at Marathon, New York on July 21, 1833. She came to Indiana when she was 10 years old and apparently did not attend public school but educated herself. She married James J. Jordan, a business man of Richmond, Indiana in Miami County, Indiana on July 20, 1850. They had six children. She wrote for newspapers in Indiana and Ohio, serving as associate editor of the Cincinnati Saturday Night, and published one book of poetry. She died in Richmond, Indiana on April 25, 1895 and is buried in Earlham Cemetery, Richmond, Indiana.
