Biographical Note
Frederick Johnson served as a private in Company I, 44th Regiment Indiana Volunteers. He enlisted at Elkhart, Indiana on September 10, 1861, was mustered in at Fort Wayne, Indiana on November 22, 1861, re-enlisted on January 1, 1864 and was discharged on September 14, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. He had at least one child, Gertrude.
