Biographical Note

Mary A. Johns was born during 1866 in Indiana to Alexander and Isabella Perry; she had one brother. She was married to George Johns on June 20, 1893, from whom she was later divorced. She taught at the McCutchanville High School in Vanderburgh County, Indiana sometime between 1874 and 1914. She was a prominent teacher in the Vanderburgh County schools and authored histories of the McCutchnville School and Church. She died in 1939 and is buried in the McCutchanville Cemetery in McCutchanville, Indiana.
