Biographical Note

Randall Wesley Jehs was born March 23, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to Wesley H. and Marie Ann Tomy Jehs. He was one of three children. He was graduated from North Central High School (Indianapolis, Indiana) in 1960 and received his Bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 1964 and Master's degree in 1965 (his dissertation was about the Ku Klux Klan in Indiana). He did postraduate work in American History at the George Washington University (Washington, D.C.) from 1965-1970 and conducted a number of oral histories in Indiana.

He had worked as a field agent for the Indiana Division of the Indiana State Library in the 1970s. He also worked as director of editorial development at Pictorial, Inc. for several years and was most recently employed by Principal Financial Group from 2002-2006, as a benefits analyst. He was Republican precinct committeeman, ward chairman and assistant township chairman for Washington and Pike Townships, Marion County, Indiana. He was a member of the Indianapolis Board of Zoning Appeals, District 1, for ten years, serving as chairman for five years. He was a speechwriter and research director for Mayor William H. Hudnut, III from 1976-1978. He and Daniel R. Grove were loving partners for twenty seven years, from 1981 until his death.

He died October 17, 2008 in Indianapolis, Indiana and is buried in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
