Biographical Note

William "Bill" Alfred Hurst was born April 12, 1898 in Decatur County, Indiana to Frank (who died in 1910) and Alice Embry Hurst. He was one of five children and attended school in St. Omer, Indiana from 1910-1912. He grew up on a farm northeast of St. Omer. He received a bachelor's degree from Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana. He married June Allen in Dacatur County, Indiana on April 2, 1923, and they had four children. He worked as a railway mail clerk for the U.S. Post Office and wrote histories of St. Paul and St. Omer, Indiana. He died in Greensburg, Indiana on April 21, 1975 and is buried in the Paul Hill Cemetery in St. Paul, Indiana.
