Biographical Note

Samuel Humphreys was born in 1797 and lived in New Harmony, Indiana with his wife Sarah (Green), who was born in 1798, in 1836 and 1840.The 1840 census shows four people in the household, under 20, 2 aged 20-49, two engaged in commerce. He died December 25, 1853 and is buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery in New Harmony, Indiana.
