Biographical Note
Charles E. Hollenbeck was born in New York in 1840. He married Jane in 1870. He worked as a printer in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1864, when Carlon and Hollenbeck was founded, until his death in 1901 or 1902. He was secretary of the board of Butler University in 1874. In 1898, he bought controlling interest, renaming the business Hollenbeck Press. Hollenbeck Press published many historical pieces, city directories and local newspapers, such as the Indianapolis News and the Indianapolis Journal. He is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
