Biographical Note

Asberry [Asburry] [Asbury] Cloud Jacquess was born on April 16, 1812 in Kentucky to Jonathan Jr. and his third wife, Rebekah. He was one of thirteen children. In 1834 he went with family produce and products on a flatboat to New Orleans from Indiana, to where he was moved at the age of three. He married his first wife, Jane Ashworth, in April of 1838, with whom he had ten children and who died in 1859. He married his second wife, Jane Smith [Smythe] in 1867, and she died in 1870. He was a farmer. He died on March 31, 1895 and is buried in Poseyville Cemetery, Poseyville, Indiana.
