Biographical Note
Thais Hamilton Heinzerling was born on October 19, 1911 in Garrett, Indiana to C. Blaine and Margaret Hamilton. She married Harry D. Heinzerling (1908-1999) on July 13, 1929 and they had 6 children. She was a lifelong resident of Garrett and was a founding member of the Garrett Historical Society and served as the society's president. She passed away on June 10, 2005.

Historical Note
Garrett, Indiana is located in northeast Indiana and was founded in 1875 by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. The Garrett Historical Society was started in 1970 with the express purpose of creating a museum dedicated to the history of the local community and the railroad. The society's museum is housed in the former B & O Railroad freight station.
