This collection includes a photostat copy of a Troy Times (Ohio) newspaper article written by David H. Morris, Sr. on January 29, 1840. The article offers a sketch of the military expedition against the Indians in the Northwest Territory that was undertaken in the fall of 1790 under the command of General Josiah Harmar.

Biographical Note
David Hamilton Morris, Sr. was born in Hanover, New Jersey on July 11, 1769. In his youth, he served in the Revolutionary War with the Pennsylvania troops. In 1786, he enlisted in Captain Ferguson's company of Colonel Josiah Harmar's artillery regiment. After his term expired, he enlisted in Captain Joseph Ashton's company and served with this unit during General Josiah Harmar's 1790 Indian Expedition. He was discharged with the rank of 1st Sergeant after serving in the Indian Campaign for more than 4 years. He died on April 3, 1843 in Miami County, Ohio.
