Biographical Note

Joseph Griffin was born about 1834 in Indiana. He was married on July 12, 1860 to Margaret E. Denton in Jackson County, Indiana. He served in Company G, 54th Regiment Indiana Infantry from July 11, 1862 to September 16, 1862. He left service, complaining of chest and lung trouble and chronic diarrhea, which left him unable to work after the war, but they did own a farm. They had twelve children from 1863 to 1883. Joseph died of pneumonia April 28, 1883.
