Biographical Note

Jehiel (also Jeheil) Weasner Goltry was born June 4, 1809 in New York. He moved to Jennings County, Indiana and bought 95 1/2 acres of land that consisted of a creek and different kinds of timber. Goltry moved his family to the unsettled land of Jennings County. He married Mariah (Maria) Smith and the couple had five children. Jehiel Goltry died on July 11, 1850 and Mariah Goltry died on August 28. 1855. The couple is buried in the Sixmile Cemetery in Jennings County.
