Biographical Note

James Gipson Essington was born was born in Indiana between 1843 and 1846. He enlisted in Company D, Indiana 75th Infantry Regiment on July 18, 1862. He married Lydia on October 8, 1863 in Hamilton County, Indiana. He was mustered out of the Army on June 8, 1865 in Washington D.C. He married Anna Eliza Collier on March 22, 1868 in Hamilton County, Indiana, where he worked as a farmer. They had five children. He died on October 1, 1906 and is buried in Crownland Cemetery, Noblesville, Indiana.
