Biographical Note
Jesse Shields Elliott was born in Cass County, Indiana to James and Nancy Shields Elliott June 10, 1840. He was one of five brothers, including Absalom and Isaac, three of them served in the Civil War. He married Ann Lorena Morgan on December 1, 1861 in Kansas. He enlisted on August 20th, in Company H, Kansas 13th Infantry Regiment, and enlisted as a private on August 28, 1862. He was mustered out on June 26, 1865. He died in September 1909 at Sunnyside, Washington and is buried in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in that city.

Biographical Note
Absalom Elliott was born in Indiana to James and Nancy Shields Elliott about 1821. He was one of five brothers, including Jesse Shields and Isaac, three of them served in the Civil War. He moved to Minnesota and farmed. He was inducted in the First Battery Light Artillery as a private on January 5, 1864 at the age of 43. He died June 17, 1864 of small pox and is buried at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Missouri.
