Biographical Note

Frank Elder Edwards was born May 13, 1876 in Knightstown, Indiana to William M. and Emma L. Edwards. His great-grandfather's farm formed part of Knightstown. He was one of four children. He was graduated with a B.A. in economics and social science from Indiana University in 1899. He married Era M. Woodard on June 10, 1902 in Henry County; she died in 1909. He married Clara Catherine [Katherine] Chain around 1911. She was an actress and died in 1949. He was an insurance salesman, business manager for the Cincinnati Orchestra, operated a concert booking agency and managed his second wife's career. He reviewed United States and European music for the Musical America magazine. He was a published author, who wrote verse or "rhymes", as he termed them and was called the James Whitcomb Riley of the area. "Uncle Frank", as he was known, died at the age of 99 on July 25, 1975 and is buried in the Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown, Indiana where his two wives are also buried.
