Biographical Note

Eva Ione East was born in May of 1876 in Indiana to John Ransom and Matilda J. (Binkley) East (who were married in 1866). She was the youngest of four children. She was graduated from Bloomington High School in 1895 and attended Indiana University, joining the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was graduated from the Boston Conservatory of Music, with high honors, in 1900. She became a singer, church choir and Bloomington Choral Club director and music teacher. She died of insulin shock in at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 9, 1923. She had resided in Bloomington, Indiana at the time of her death and was buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana.
