Scope and Contents

This collection includes two certificates of service from the Seventh District Local Board of the U.S. Selective Service (1918); a copy of the Articles of Governance for the Indiana Selective Service Association (1919); a copy of the introduction by George O. Dix and the speech by Major Robert W. Adams at the Selective Service Association convention (1920); a letter dated March 4, 1924 and sent by former British Prime Minister David Lloyd George's private secretary, A. J. Sylvester, regarding three photographs of Lloyd George; an election ribbon for Hon. James Davis (1925); a newspaper clipping of a picture of Private Herman L. Abraham from the March 15, 1942 Indianapolis Star; an April 21, 1942 letter sent to Dynes by Private Abraham while statiioned at Dale Mabry Field; and an October 5, 1942 letter sent by Richard Landram from the United States Navel Training School (U.S.N.T.S) at the University of Illinois.

Biographical Note

Harry Blaine Dynes (1884-1968) was an executive with the Equitable Life Assurance Society of America in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served as a Republican member of the Indiana House of Representatives in 1917; secretary of the Indiana Selective Service Association in 1921; and conciliator for the U.S. Labor Department in the 1920s and 1930s.
