This collection includes correspondence and clippings pertaining to the Durham family, from 1820 through 1908.
The oldest document is a letter by J. Durham in Vallonia, Indiana to William Graham, Esq., in Corydon, Indiana dated December 19, 1820, about the trial of Captain Rogers who faces court martial.
On December 16, 1831, J. B. Durham in Indianapolis wrote to Walter Benton about "the removal of the Michigan Road so as to take it from Indianapolis to Columbus, Brownstown, Salem and the falls of Ohio."
There are letters in 1845, 1852, 1859, and 1869 from John B. Durham, in Medora, Indiana, to his brother Samuel Durham, in Marion, Iowa. John H. Benton wrote to Samuel Durham in 1893 enclosing an article from the Brownstown Banner about his father and grandfather. Mr. Benton also wrote to Mr. Durham in 1903 and 1908, giving family and local history.
The latest document is a poster about the 13th annual Soldiers' Reunion and Homecoming on August 27-28, 1909 in Brownstown, Indiana.

Biographical Note
