Biographical Note

Julia Henderson Levering was born to Albert and Larainne (Richmond) Henderson in Covington, Indiana on May 5, 1851. She was the second oldest of seven children, including Charles, Lorana, Ada, Annie, Carrie and Maude. Julia Henderson married J. Mortimer Levering in 1872 in Lafayette, Indiana. They had one child, Richmond M. Levering and her family lived in several locations such as Lafayette, Indiana, Chicago, Illinois and finally Cincinnati, Ohio where her husband died in 1909. She wrote one book, Historic Indiana, published in 1909 and numerous magazine articles. Levering died February 19, 1922 in New Rochelle, New York and was buried in Spring Vale Cemetery, in Lafayette, Indiana next to her husband.
