Biographical Note

Hugh Dougherty was born July 28, 1844 in Darke County, Ohio to William and Margaret Dougherty. He served with Company F, 94th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He moved to Bluffton, Indiana a few years after his discharge and entered into the banking business. He married Emma Gilliland in 1878 and they had 1 daughter. He moved to Indianapolis in 1904 and lived there until his death on November 16, 1925.
