This collection contains family letters, Francis O. Dorsey's report card from the Indianapolis Classical School, and an invitation to the Indianapolis Women's Club Social Reunion and President's Day program ranging from 1866-1885. Undated items include letters, a poem, an envelope with a picture of the Tucker and Dorsey Manufacturer's wooden coffee grinder and an envelope of the Willcox and Gibbs S.M. Company of New York.

Biographical Note

The Dorseys were a prominent family in Indianapolis. Robert Stockton Dorsey (1832-1883) married Catherine Layman (1834-1905) on May 28, 1861 and they had 6 children: Robert L. (1862-1937), John T. (1864-1871), Daniel L. (1866-1955), Francis O. (1869-1915), Kate (1872-1878), and Thomas T. (1873-1875). The family was involved in the management of the Indianapolis based companies, Tucker & Dorsey Manufacturing Company and the Phoenix Caster Company.
