Biographical Note

James O'Hara Denny was born in 1821 to Elizabeth and Harmar Denny, who signified a union of two prominent families in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Denny studied law, managed O'Hara Glass Works, and maintained other business interests in Pittsburgh. He served as captain of the 1st Pennsylvania Infantry during the Mexican-American War. Denny died January 31, 1859 and was buried in Pittsburgh.
