This collection contains correspondence and other documents received by Mrs. Gertrude H. Cregor of Indianapolis, Indiana from 1952 to 1953. Along with several personal letters, the collection also contains a letter from the Christamore Aid Society regarding its 1952 Spring Follies (January 7, 1952); a flyer for the "Music In the Cold War" program (1953); a letter from the Indianapolis Piano Teachers' Association's president (August 25, 1953); a letter from the Woman's Auxiliary of the Indiana State Medical Association regarding the convention to be held at French Lick (September 23, 1953); a letter and schedule of meetings from the St. Thomas Aquinas Discussion Club (October 3, 1953); and a 1953 Wheeler City Rescue Mission Thanksgiving letter and a Wheeler Mission News newsletter (Vol. 1, no. 3).

Biographical Note
Gertrude Margaret Horn was born on August 23, 1883 at Valparaiso, Indiana to Peter and Sarah Horn. She was a graduate of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and held a graduate degree from Valparaiso University. She studied piano in Vienna and was a concert pianist, accompanist and teacher of music. She married Frank W. Cregor (1873-1942), a physician and dermatologist in Indianapolis, on September 24, 1913 and they had two children. Well known in music circles, Mrs. Cregor served as president of many music organizations. In the 1930s she helped organize the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and at the end of World War II, she organized the Music for Hospitals program in Marion County to provide musical programs to patients of the veterans hospitals. She passed away on May 24, 1962.
