Glen M. Cree letter

 Collection — Folder: S0317
Identifier: S0317

Scope and Contents

This handwritten letter is addressed to W. F. Collins, 4221 Towle Avenue, Hammond, Indiana. It was written on March 22, 1948, by Glen M. Cree, 1009 East Mish Avenue, Mishawaka, Indiana. The letter is in response to Mr. Collins’s letter of March 16, 1948 in which he inquired about teaching after the age of 66.

Mr. Cree wrote: “My article you mention was based on Foust ruling and the decisions and interpretation of the 1947 law. An employing official may employ you if he so desires after the extension of time or age limit of 66 yr. Your tenure expires and it is optional to the employer. In many cases where one’s health is good and due to teacher shortages they are giving continuous employment but I’m sure you have no tenure rights.”
