Biographical Note
George Crane was born to James and May Crane on October 4, 1902 in Benton County, Indiana and was the second of five children. He was graduated in 1920 from the Fowler High School in Benton County and completed a twelve weeks normal course in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1922. He married Mary A. McMahon in 1931 in Gary, Indiana. He taught at the Tolleston High School in Gary, Indiana and received a doctorate. They had one child, George L. Crane. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946. He died on September 14, 1982 and is buried in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary, Indiana.
