Biographical Note

James William Cope, Sr. was born in Alton, Illinois on March 20, 1884. He married Nora Belle Green on April 3, 1907 and they had fifteen children. He worked as a yardman for 33 years, in Alton, Illinois. He died October 7, 1955, was survived by six siblings, and is buried in Upper Alton Cemetery, Illinois.
