Marcelle Dominic LaCroix was born to Dominic and Henrietta (Lalumiere) LaCroix on August 12, 1824. He was a partner in LaCroix and Bayard, which sold dry goods, groceries, shoes, and boots. LaCroix also sold wheat. He was a shareholder in the German Banking Company, organized in 1870, with his brother-in-law, Joseph L. Bayard. They had four children: John D., Anna, Adel R., and Helen Henriette. LaCroix died December 4, 1876 and is buried in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Vincennes, Indiana.
