This collection contains three diaries. Volume 1 begins on January 8, 1867. Volume 2, which begins August 1, 1867, has the last written page cut out. Volume 3 begins on April 1, 1868. All three diaries were written while Ms. Cobb was a student at the Baptist Institute in Indianapolis.

Cobb is listed in two locations in Indiana -- age 21 in Franklin, Putnam County, housekeeping in the home of Hiram and Sophronia Stage, and also age 19 in Center, Dearborn County.
