Historical Note

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) was organized in 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia, as a network of former Southern Baptists who believe in women in ministry and other historic Baptist principles. As of 2017, there are about one million members of CBF churches. The CBF headquarters is in Decatur, Georgia. Eighteen autonomous state and regional bodies have coordinators who work with the national body. Indiana is part of the North Central Region comprising ten states. The North Central group was among the first to organize in response to the Atlanta meeting in 1991. At the annual General Assembly, the CBF commissions field personnel, church starters, and chaplains. These national gatherings are held in June in various cities. The North Central Region holds yearly meetings in the spring.
