Scope and Contents
This collection consists of a transcript of the diary Chandler kept while moving to Missouri. She documents the sights and experiences of the trip through Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. The diary ends in St. Louis, although the Chandlers eventually settled near Boonville, Missouri.

Biographical Note
Sarah Ann Quarles Chandler was born April 20, 1804, in Virginia. She became the second wife of Leroy Chandler April 20, 1804, in Louisa County, Virginia. In 1836, the Chandlers moved from near Charlottesville, Virginia to just outside Boonville, Missouri. Together they had 13 children. Chandler died October 26, 1865.
